Customizing Your Widget

Once you've grabbed or created your widget, you can personalize it to suit your needs before publishing it to your blog. You can configure the number of items shown, color, style, size, and much much more.

Don't have a widget yet? Select one from our SmartLinks Gallery!

Steps

  • First select the type of the widget. The choices are list, grid, or badge. Lists are great for sidebars while Grids are good for image-centric widgets. Badges are flash-based and are the most compact of the bunch.
  • Next choose the color of the widget--that is, the skin of it.
  • For Badge widgets, be sure to set the Background Color to be the hex background color value on your blog. Otherwise it will default to white.
  • For Grid widgets, be sure to pick a large enough width so that the columns clearly show each SmartLink item. In this example, since there are 4 columns and 8 items, the grid will display as 2 rows of 4 items, each item 150x px wide.
  • For List widgets, note that you can set the number of items displayed, width, and sort. You can also set the display to be Just Description or Just Thumbs.
